cheap and you can stain/varnish/paint/whatever to suit your taste.
Another vote for the Homebase veneered chipboard ones as well if they
still do them. Bought a bunch of them about 12 years ago because they
were a) Cheap, b) had better quality of finish than many similar types,
and c) seemed to be a little heavier in construction than most. They
still look ok and show no signs of sagging.... (only wish I had worn as
well ;-)
