Yesterday's Telegraph - scarcely a Labour rag - had a table of prices
in 1997 and now. RPI is up about 18%: things that have gone up less
than this include milk (0%), eggs (6%), bread (23%), pint of beer
(24%), weekly London bus pass (-8%) [but tube zone 1 ride is +67%],
home insurance 12%, prescription charge 15%.
