I guess I'm still somewhat baffled by the US eagerness to

None of the sources quoted are from Iraq's neighbors and are therefore both
uninformed and irrelevant.
Quoted rhetorical nonsense aside, had say, Israel really felt imminent
danger from old Sadman they would have done for him without blinking - and
you know it. They did the last time.

"In an article for Parade magazine, published on Aug 1 2004, Retired
General Tommy Franks discussed the possibility of WMD’s in Iraq, He
mentioned that he had spoken to both the President of Egypt (Hosni
Mubarak) and the King of Jordan (King Abdullah), about two months
before the invasion of Iraq. Both told him that Saddam Hussein had
weapons of mass destruction. In fact, King Abdullah informed him that
“Saddam has WMD - biologicals, actually - and he will use them on your
troops. ” Within the hour, he had relayed that information to
Washington"

"Jordan's King Abdullah revealed on Saturday that vehicles reportedly
containing chemical weapons and poison gas that were part of a deadly
al Qaeda bomb plot came from Syria, the country named by U.S. weapons
inspector David Kay last year as a likely repository for Iraq's
weapons of mass destruction."

What were you babbling about again?
