I'm having this same flickering on and off business with my 15-year old
Toshiba 27". It does the flickering thing and the picture flickers too.
I'm going to try some of the stuff I've seen here and at
http://repairfaq.ece.drexel.edu/sam/tvfaq.htm and I'll let you know
how it goes.
