the baltic birch ply faced with high pressure laminate on my
biesemeyer seems to be ok....

So *thats* what the Biesemeyer faces are made of. I didn't
know that. Perhaps I could buy replacements and try to
retrofit the slide-on clips that mount these uhmw faces.
