It's one of those "Don't **** off the cop" rules. If you don't ****
off the cop somehow he'll let it slide because he has better things to
do. But if you rub him the wrong way and he's in the mood to harass
you, he can get you for it.
Good cops, anyway. Crummy ones will pull you over for all kinds of
crazy-assed reasons. A fried of mine got pulled over for having a
taillight crooked. Not out, not dim, just crooked.
