This is a very successful group with loads of good advice.
However, because it is so popular, a thread is 'dead and buried' far down
the list within a couple of days very often leaving questions unanswered.

Not sure how it is done, but may I suggest splitting this group into some
new groups:
uk.d-i-y.building
uk.d-i-y.electrical
uk.d-i-y.plumbing
uk.d-i-y.carpentry
uk.d-i-y.misc
(uk.d-i-y.tools+appliances)

Why is it that whenever this is suggested (several times a year), it's
always by someone who never (or hardly ever) posts to the group?

(not being rude - it's a genuine question!)

Sorry, I didn't realise this has been suggested before.

I don't post often but read this group with great interest as we have major
improvements in the pipeline and would like to do some of the work
ourselves.
I have learnt a lot from this group and do mark threads I am interested in
but they often die before they seem finished.

Just forget I ever mentioned it!
