Just take the receiver off the hook.

I just pick it up, and either say hello' and if no one I know answers it
or they don't know my name, down iot goes, or else just leave it off
hook for half an hour.

You can join these 'i don';t want spam' things, but that doesn't stop
the hardcore foreign calls from mumbai or the Ukraine..
