I have not discounted that possibility either.

And you are sensible to do so because even if it wasn't the source of
the pandemic in this case, zoonotic diseases have been the source in
many others and are likely to be the cause of many more in the future.

Pandemics happen because they can. Its the way of the world.

It's the 'way of the world' *now* because of how we have mutated the
natural world into an unnatural one (especially re our treatment of
animals / live stock).
