I dont think the problem is condensation,
but that if rain blows in under the slates then there is nowhere for it to go
and no ventilation to dry it out
so the timbers will rot

Interesting. Spray foam bit starts at 27:30
Seeing it heavily advertised again, I did wonder if they'd got round the
condensation problem which can cause rot in some timbers. Apparently not.
