Default OT Why $7.50 is enough

In article ,
says...
In a state where certification or training was not mandatory OR
common. Any Bubba who knew which end of a screwdriver was the handle
could call himself a mechanic. Not saying there were not some pretty
goof "self trained" mechanics - The Bootleggers who became Nascar
builders prove that - But they did a lot off "research" and "studying"
to figure out what they figured out. (and all the CURRENT Nascar teams
are HIGHLY TRAINED!!!)

I live very near the heart of the NC racing. Back in the 1960's or so a
good number of the Bootleggers ran what is the NASCAR and local dirt
track and drag races. As the cars were much simpler back then those
boys could really do lots with them.

Now there are engineers that probably do more computer modeling on the
cars than actually working on them to get the most out of them.

I gave up on watching racing many years ago when they went from a car
you could go to the dealer and buy to the frames with a body on them
that sort of resembles whatever car they want.
