ever I did some looking into it....
I came away with the idea that I was better off with something without
any zoom, quality wise?

ah. I have an apology. That is an auction. The new price for that lens
is around £650

Your best bet would be to dump the autofocus and get a 52mm filter
manual lens and use that adapter.,
