Got a new washing machine and only accepts cold water,

That is generally the way of things these days...
old fitting include hot, the hot water valve is faulty, turned water off
in flat at stopcock, should be ok right, wrong hot water comes via combi
boiler that doesnt seem to be supplied from stopcock, at a loss
nearly flooded myself. Any help much appreciated

You combi boiler should have a valve on the cold water inlet somewhere.
Turn that off and that should stop all flow from your hot taps. Turning
off your main stopcock should also do this so whatever you turned off
before either *isnt* your main stop cock or you have a hot water tank
youve not told us about. ;-)

Thanks Tim
No hot water tank all goes through combi boiler, it seems as if hot water
to machine comes straight from there. Looks like I will need to stop
water in the whole block, unless I can isolate the water going to
machine, when I isolate the water in the flat via stopcock in cupboard I
dont get any water from hot or cold tap but water is still gushing out
of pipe at washing machine if I try to disconnect - sorry new home and new to this
Suzanne

Did you leave a hot tap open whilst you were doing this? It may have been
water just draining out of the pipework. Closing all the other taps to stop
air entering the pipes will minimise this.

If its mains pressure hot water then youre getting free hot water from
someone elses system. ;-)
