Tiny, specialised connectors make sense when you're using
small-diameterÂ* cable. F-connectors are ideal for situations where
the inner conductorÂ* is the pin of the male - and you obviously can't
do this with miniatureÂ* cable. If you ARE using miniature cable,

I've actually got some jumpers using miniature cable (RG-179?) and
F-connectors. You have to solder the inner into the pin, and crimp* the
outer.
*If the dielectric is high-temperature, you can also solder the
folded-back outer braid.
