For perpetuity we've NEVER known if that stranger at the store is
healthy. We've never made people wear masks for that reason.


Playing the odds. Six months ago it was the common cold and low
incidence. Today it is Corona and a higher incidence.

Not really low incidence. Most people catch colds now and then, from
exactly the same behavior. The Corona is just a more serious
infection. I can say, I don't really get colds these days because I
have been social distancing for about 20 years, doing exactly the same
thing they want us to do now. I was wiping down my airplane seat and
everything I could reach with disinfecting wipes 20 years ago. I keep
hand sanitizer with me and I don't hug strangers. ("hug" being a
euphemism for any real contact).
