Yes - has been for decades.

It might be on *some* cars, but it's not universal and it can't be that
common. Never heard of it until now and just checked a BMW and Mercedes,
neither has it. I've rented a lot of cars, been in other cars, if they
had it, I never saw it.


It is a newer idea than Clare suggests and far from universal, even 12
years ago. My 97 Honda, 2008 Lincoln and 2000 Ford truck don't have
it.

Look again at your 2000 ford. My 1996 has it. My 1995 Mystique had it.
It appears the 1995-ish Ford Areostars with metric speedos (Canadian
market) had the arrow while the US model did not..
It's been pretty much universal on Canadian market vehicles for at
least 2 decades now - which means since at least since 1999.


You are right on the Fords, It is right there with the gas pump symbol
and I never noticed it. Not true on the Honda.
