staff in other EU States where asking for evidence of entitlement is

Dunno. Never had to seek treatment abroad.

My guess is the effort needed to check every single person is entitled to
NHS treatment at every stage is likely to cost more than letting the few
who ain't slip through.

Unless we introduced something like identity cards - something those
wanting to keep England for the English don't appear to want.
