Problem reading USB attached disk drives
Yes Windows always attempts to plonk one of its .ini files on the disc and
this can corrupt them.
I've had similar problems with usb to ide on windows 7, yet it works on xp.
I'm thinking maybe the wrong driver is being used. Also make sure, if the
interface is capable to use one of the usb3 ports or you will be there for
the duration!

I'm trying to read some old SATA drives using a Liteon Ultra enclosure.
windows disk management (Win10 Pro)sees the disk but says it needs to be
initialised, but trying to initialise as MBR fails.
Any ideas as to how to procede?
TIA Iain
Mount it in Linux and hope that can see the drive properly.
You may already have damaged it by trying to allow Win10 to write to it.
A write protect switch is very handy when doing data recovery.
