With my several old Taurus 3 litre cars - I'd change the oil
a little earlier than the manual recommendation ~ 7000 km
and it would still look new - not darkened.

I wouldn't call it dirty but it is convenient when you can see the oil
on the dipstick. Brand new 5W-30 squirrel **** doesn't stand out well.
