How do they get all the measurements like the optician does? For
example the
distance between your eyes; the width of your face? Not being critical,
just
curious because I have a difficult Rx.

Look at their web page. You can download a 'ruler' on paper that you
can have someone look at for you, or look in a mirror to get the pupil
distance if the eye doctor will not give that to you .

An optometrist/ophthalmologist is required by law to give you a complete
prescription that you can take elsewhere. If they don't, report them and
take your business elsewhere.

But they are not required to give you the pupil distance needed to
properly make a pair of glasses. Not knowing that, the prescription is
useless.

But its trivial to measure that yourself.
