Somebody was in a hurry, but let me think, no wires to the fan had been
fitted? You may laugh, but back in the late 60s when they built some houses
behind ours at least one new resident found that a light in a cupboard had
no wire going to it.

rawlplugs, just screwed into the plasterboard!

No ducting! Just 10" of loft insulation!
