That's what nationalism is. It claims to be liberating you from some
empire, but at the same time it oppresses any smaller nation which is
inside it's 'national' boundary. Scotland voted overwhelmingly remain.

To remain in the UK with it in the EU. They didnt
realise that the UK would vote to leave the EU.

They are free to have another referendum on leaving the UK.
