Spares? Nobody sell spares for anything much these days, or what few
they do are extortionate in cost.

That's not a particularly new phenomenon. In the 1970s I called at a large
HiFi dealer in Tottenham Court Road. " You can't expect us to sell spares
for goods we stock!"
