Ditto. A largely outdated technology, but work well enough if the beam covers the main walkway and ideally includes a door that never blows shut. Can be a good approach where PIRs would be no good.
I ran one beam diagonally across two rooms that were linked by a sliding
door that is rarely closed. That beam was across the rear patio windows
which were thought to be a likely way in for a crim. The other beam was
in the hallway, and it was impossible to get into or out of any room or
onto the stairs without crossing it.
The two beams were put on their own zones.
As far as I know this system is still in use.
