It is you who are sidestepping issues. I have advocated eliminating,
from civilian ownership, semi-automatic weapons and those with
removable magazines.

You have translated that into the criminalization of all weapons.

There is simply no need for semi-automatic weapons and others with
removable magazines, in the hands of civilians.
