Ridge Vent Instalation Question
Thanks to everyone for the replies,
I was given two links for ridge vents, one from Skil Tools and the other
from Owens-Corning. Both say I can run them to the edge and I am to have a 1
1/2" opening at the peak with trusses.

I am getting ready to finish the top section of a gambrel type roof on
my
shed. I want to place a ridge vent across the top peak. All the pictures
I
see of this type vent system shows the vent ending short of the edge of
the
roof, and the sheeting being cut out where the vent will cover. Can I
just
start laying the top sheeting 3" down from the peak and place the vent
all
the way to the edge of the roof? This would let me use 3" less plywood
on
each side of the roof sheeting, not have to cut it out after nailing it
all
down. Is there a reason to not run the vent all the way over to the edge
of
the roof line? Will it leak on the ends if installed this way? Does the
roof
vent sections come with the ends capped off so they will not leak from
the
ends?
Any information is appreciated. I will complete covering the top of the
shed
roof this week. The shed is 12X20
Thanks in advance
3" down on each side? You're scaring me. That is way too much.
