90+% are caused by those prohibited from owning a firearm, mostly
convicted felons. You need clearance by FBI and state databases to buy
a gun. Carry permit here requires clearance, finger printing, shooting
course and test, publication of intent in the paper, signatures of 5
residents and a judges approval. Most firearms used in crimes were
stolen or bought by a friend or relative of a prohibited person, both
felonies.
