Fascinating.

My favorite was the Orthodox Church, but then again
I have a weakness for such ...

I no longer remember what it was, but a previous post of yours suggested
to me that you might be Orthodox -- or at least an Orthodox "fellow
traveler."

Perce

Hi Perce,

I consider my self Eastern Orthodox. I have never been welcomed
into a church as there are medical and distance reasons blocking
me from attending. So I am not formally Orthodox.

But since I believe in the Nicaean Creed, believe the Orthodox
church is the church founded by Christ on the faith of his
apostles, I have a personal relationship with Christ and one
of his saints (who chose me), I am anyway. His church, I
believe in him, I am Orthodox.

I even try to keep the fast, although do to the Diabetes, I have
to keep the non-food part of it (I don't do so well at it).
I follow Saint John Chrysostom's teaching on the fast. Being chrismated
is on my bucket list.

I listen to Ancient Faith radio a lot.

I love their podcasts and music. Sometimes the chant can be a bit
hard to take, but it is for the love of Christ anyway. The
Russians sure can sing!

Glory be to God!

Glory be to God indeed! I am a retired former Protestant pastor who was
received into the Orthodox Church (a small Antiochian parish) a little
over a year ago. I hope that you will soon be able to be received
"officially" into the Orthodox Church.

Perce (my UseNet alias)

Hi Perce,

That must have been a huge culture shock. After
finding the Orthodox Church, I had the overwhelming feeling
that I was finally "home".

Antioch:

"And it came about that for an entire year they met
with the church, and taught considerable numbers;
and the disciples were first called Christians at
Antioch." (Acts 11:23-26).

I do love hearing that every time I read it!

It won't be too long before we greet each other with
"God is with us!"

In the mean time, I have to bite my tongue. I would
be easier just to fast.

Orthodox: Christian only harder!
