stuff snipped

Wall clocks, table clocks, pictures with clocks in them. Some worked,

some
didn't. Many ticked, many chimed.

I recently learned that in a room of grandfather clocks, they will

(mostly)
all eventually synchronize. Can you guess why?

Vibrations from each pendulum can influence the swings of the others.

That assumes that all clocks are attached to a medium that can transmit

the
vibrations. It might take a very, very long time in a room with concrete
walls. ;-)

Ah, you're no fun. (-: But that is the current thinking about why they
tend to synch up.
