Default Harsh reality in one of USA's poorest towns where people won't vote because they can't afford bus fare

until it comes to their own back yard, where the "rebs" ( I refuse to
use right and left to describe Ameican politics) in particular yell
bloody murder when it is suggested perhaps a tiny morsel of their
(tax) money might go towardss some "socialist" program that puts some
of it into the hands of those who have not "worked for it".
In that way, many Americans are among the "stingiest" people in the
world. Like that ancient queen of france - "they canot afford bread?
- Them let them eat cake".

Were you drinking when you wrote your post or is your spell checker corrupted?

I don't drink and I turned the spell checker off long ago. The only
error in my post was a second S on towards.

The typical republican is always bitching about their tax money going
to social services for those, who like the people in the West Virginia
coal towns referenced in the original post, have nothing since the
coal mines shut down and there are no jobs to be had in the area.

Don't know if you call West Virginia the "south" - I do. And yes, MANY
of those people would give you the shirt off their backs, even if they
didn't have a spare. The haves are generally not as generous as the
have-nots.
Wmhen I was able bodied, me and my friends helped people out all the time. I never resented any tax money going to help those in need. I've always had a problem with Commiecrats using my tax dollars to buy votes from the entitlement class and protected species. I'm being helped now because I'm disabled and can no longer work. Social Security and Medicaid are taking pretty good care of me and I'm grateful for what little I have. Some wonderful people have helped me and wanted nothing in return except my thanks.

Perhaps it's just because I live in The South where most people are used to helping others because of their upbringing? I've done some traveling and the people I've met all seemed to desire the same things like safety and a good life. When I was out in Californiastan, I met some of the most horrible backstabbing weasels and it was more than one. It seemed to be common in the workforce and a general attitude. It wasn't everyone but there were just too many for me to tolerate. Stomping someone until they quit twitching can land a feller in jail. I believe it has a lot to do with population density. I'm thinking that the tighter you pack people into a given area, the worse their behavior. ?(?_?)?
