I did a really quick search out of curiosity. About 10% of
federal expenditures go to safety net programs. Tithe?

That doesn't include whatever the individual states do. It doesn't
include Medicaid.
Who knows how well that 10% is spent?

There is too much waste and inefficiency in a lot of government programs. I'd like to see a serious effort by government agencies to eliminate waste and fraud. I received a blood glucose meter, lancets and test strips from a diabetic supply company. The company charged Medicaid $80.00 for the meter alone. The blood glucose meter is available online for $16.00. The meter, 100 test strips and a lancing device is $21.30 on Amazon. The supply company hasn't violated any law because Medicaid has agreed to pay that price but I believe the company can charge that price because no one at the state agency handling Medicaid is paying attention to what Medicaid is being charged.. I wonder what else Medicaid is paying 5 times the retail price for? The diabetic supply company billed Medicaid $175.00 for what was sent to me. That's at least $125.00 more than I could have bought everything online for. ヽ(à²*_à²*)ノ
