Default Monitor hardware reset

Hi...

I have one more if you're willing to invest a
few more minutes...

Turn the monitor on; let it warm up a little.

Then press and hold the menu button for at least
a minute or two, or if you can see anything at
all, then until you see a change on the screen.

If you see no change, then go for the full two
minutes.

Then release the menu button; wait patiently
for another couple of minutes; then turn the
monitor off.

Turn it back on, and with any luck at all it will
be unlocked for you.

If this works, then follow Stan's instructions
above to reset everything that needs resetting.

Fingers crossed; good luck!

Tried Ken`s new idea. Didn`t work either.

Thanks for the help, Ken!

Hi...

I guess I'm out of ideas then.

That last was from the wife of a long time friend,
who worked for Dell support until they were married.

She's adamant that the way to reset a locked dell
monitor is to hold the menu key until the icon
disappears. She's not too technical, used to just
read to users from a script, so she doesn't remember
all the details. But she swears that holding in the
menu button for a long time was the answer.

Maybe if you want to waste a little more time, you
could experiment with that just a bit more.

Take care.
