but spur or not it is still flat bottom so i guess advertising
flat bottom forstners is just an accoutrement to the marketing

there are some videos of making flat bottom holes with no center point
using various techniques

one guy just ground down a regular bit but that was not a large
diameter bit

i guess if the point is a problem just grind it off
