Another product of public schooling. Germany invaded Poland on September
1, 1939, followed by France and Britain declaring war on Germany. France
and Britain had made guarantees to Poland that they had a snowball's
chance of honoring. The Poles were stupid enough to believe them and got
belligerent rather than negotiating a solution to the Polish corridor.

If yuo read history you'll find the Poles were rattling sabers and being
pricks in general because they thought Britain had their back. The
corridor separated the bulk of Germany from East Prussia and the Poles
refused to let the Germans transit it, forcing them to go by sea. Had
Poland been less belligerent, they could have been an ally. Whether that
would have worked out better is arguable but in that alternate history
they might not have been under the thumb of the Soviets for decades.

The Poles problem was believing Britain and France. The BEF at the time
couldn't even hold their position in France let alone defend Poland.
