It will mess up the rubber over time. However they are easy to change
out.


As will oil. Try wax instead. There is a kind of wax made for just
this. I use the one made by Lenox.

Castrol of all people sold/sells a band saw wax as well. I have a
tube of it on my bandsaw for difficult cuts
