"More understanding"? Do you mean that it's now OK to beat up your
mother?

We were a pretty 'clean' bunch of kids. We went on to become
businessmen, engineers, and (good) fathers.

Pretty much all of those skills are lacking in today's United States
generations. I can't speak for Europe.
