Default Delta Midi tail stock????????/

Joe,

I'm not sure you can eject the live center by winding in the tailstock all
the way on the Delta midi. If that doesn't work, morse tapers are supposed
to hold strongly and giving the knockout bar a good whack with a mallet not
hurt the taper nor should it damage the center. Hold a rag over the live
center so that when it pops out, you don't damage the point of the center by
sending the thing as a projectile.

How do you easily remove the morse taper tail stock (it is hollow to
allow the pin to come out)
To remove it, I have to bang on the head, there must be a better way.

Another way to do this -- a little hard to describe...

Hold a piece of steel (maybe a skew) of the proper width between the
flange on the back of the live center and the flange surrounding the
movable part of the tail stock. Then wind the tail stock in. When the
tool wedges between the two flanges it will extract the live center. I
believe that my Oneway center will not extract properly on a Delta 16"
machine (don't remember the model number but it is the new variable
speed one).

If the flanges don't stand up enough, you may have to make a custome
'extractor' but I hope that you get the idea.
