The idea is to ensure that everyone gets to vote once per election. Most laws requiring voter ID , allow a person to vote a provisional ballot. A ballot that is only counted if the race is close enough that the provisional ballots could change the outcome. In that case they have to verify that the person is a registered voter before counting the ballot.
As far as ****ing people off, are you ****ed off that a bank will not cash a check without proof that you are the person to whom the check is written? if so, then why are you ****ed off. If you are not ****ed off , why do you think voters are going to be ****ed off because they have to show they are really who they say they are?
I think voter ID laws may increase the number of people that vote. It shows that being able to vote is important.
