Check carefully at state and local levels. The sticky in the AR pistol
forum on AR15.com seems to indicate IL is ok at the state level but
local restrictions in the cesspool of Chicago / Cook County.

Fortunately I live around 300 miles away from Chicago! I'm just about a
hour away from East St Louis, another good example of Illinois fine cities.
