I noticed that the phase II lathe tool post sets are on sale at Enco.
AXA with 5 holders is $159.99 but it is piston type rather than wedge.
That wouldn't be a bad price for just the holders alone.

Does anyone have any experience with these? Are piston type less rigid
or repeatable?

I used an AXA-size, Phase-II 100-series piston post on a 10", and later a
12" Atlas-craftsman. I had excellent repeatability and more than enough
rigidity for that machine. I now have moved up to a 15" Sheldon R-series
lathe (3500 Lbs, 5 Hp) and have a CXA-size wedge-style post. I can see how
the wedge is going to be a bit more rigid, but I can't really detect
much difference that isn't due just to the bulk of the larger post.
(The lathe, however, is WAY more rigid - like night and day!)
