No, it is *completely* different. Employers don't print it on your
business cards.

I seem to recall when stores would ask for a SSN when using checks.
Some folks would then have it printed on the checks to save a little
time at the register.

I did at one time. The campus check cashing service required it (it
was also the student ID number).
