Me? I stuck my main beams on and moved across to the other side of the road
and scared the **** ****less. I swerved back in at the last second but I
loved it when he mounted the grass verge to avoid me.

Sometimes when a lamp blows the remaining one seems to get a bit more
juice and goes a lot brighter even when on dip, So it's possible he
wasn't trying to be nice but went straight into **** mode just the
same as you did.
