Hech, you can cut schedule 40 iron pipe with a "pipe cutter" which is
just a heavy duty tube cutter. I think Sched 80 is done the same way.


0.049" is way thinner than Sched 40 -- maybe down around "Sched
5" if that is an official designation. Anyway -- below a certain wall
thickness for a given diameter, tubing spends more time flexing than
actually being cut.
