How do you know it's smoked unless you test it? Maybe it's not getting
power. Maybe the electrodes are shorted or open.

You already put a new part in. Unless it was defective out-of-the-box
(possible, but not likely & easily checked), another new part isn't
going to help.

But, do it you own way.
