Yes, it's amazing what one can do if parents own a timber frame
company.

One of the comments on that page is "You'll need at least £350,000 to
build this cottage. Border Oak will build the house for £147k but that
won't include electrical work, plumbing, heating, kitchen fittings,
bathroom fittings etc so budget a further £50k. [Posted by Pete

All the principles of great architecture were discovered by the Greeks/
Romans.
I don't think their principles can be beaten, maybe equalled by a good
oak framed building. Excellent examples in Chester.
