Default Plasterboarding

Hello,

When plasterboarding a stud wall, should I fix just to the uprights or
both the uprights and the noggins?

I'm thinking that it is probably better to fix anywhere there is part of
the wooden structure underneath.

Thanks

Graham

The main purpose of noggins is to prevent the "uprights" from movement
as they dry out after the plasterboard has been nailed to them. This
would cause the plasterboards nails to become visible & spoil the
decorations, esp. if it's just plasterskim/painted finish.

The other purpose is to provide fixings for radiators, shelves etc.
Nail every 100mm to everything.

It helps if you can get the noggins on any joints of the plasterboard
but this is sometimes hard to work out,
