People tend to mount TVs way too high. Center of the screen should be
below eye level.

And the distance should be about screen size x 2.5. With the old tube sets,
close was terrible due to the lines on the screen, but much less so with
LCD.

There is some information here but it is more to the home theater than TV in
the family room
