I would not run a richer mix myself. �I have used chainsaws for over
30 years in cluding a couplel years back in the 50s. �I don't like
breathing the smoky exhaust from 40-1 mixes anymore , plus the
modern saws are not engineered for it.

Makita may say only to use their brand but that is just hype.

What's it gonna be? You believe todays engines are not made to run
40:1 or even 20:1, but you say only using their oil is hype. I think
its all hype, you can run anything from 20:1 with regular 10w30, to
100:1 with the right oils without any damage.

I guess we believe what we want to believe and the manufacturers
recommendations mean nothing.
