409,000 more square miles is a lot of freaking ice. How much do you

Increase to 3rd lowest since they started keeping records in 1979. 2007
was the lowest and 2008 was 2nd lowest.

However, a fair bit of the decreasing trend since NSIDC started tracking
this in 1979 appears to me to be due to the Atlantic Multidecadal
Oscillation. Not all of it was due to anthropogenic global warming.
