Leave it to the government to do things that are entirely stupid.
Having the DTV changeover on Feb. 17 is one of them. *The majority of
Americans are coping with snow and ice and cold weather in February.
At the same time, these same people are stuck indoors and watching
more tv than they do in warmer weather. *

No, what's stupid is people who know change is coming procrastinating
until the very last day and then bitching about it.

It doesn't matter what date is picked for changeover, there will be
tens of thousands of people like you who won't be ready. *O'bama may
extend the cutover date to give the 'poor' more time to get ready.
They will claim to be just as poor 6 months from now as they are
today. *I do work for the "poor', and while there are some truly
needy, you'd be amazed at how many will claim to be destitute while
waiting in line and talking on their cell phones. * They won't even
consider giving up a cell phone bill for food, medicine, or a dtv
converter box.

The fact is that most people make their own luck, be it good or bad,
and have only themselves to blame for whatever circumstance they find
themselves in. You are right, many people will always wait until it
is too late and then bitch that they either didn't know or didn't have
time. Bought my converter boxes shortly after the coupons became
available, didn't have any trouble finding them, and only had to pay
sales tax on them. As it turns out, the only TV that I will need them
for is in my shop where I normally watch sports while I am working on
other projects.
